Two new video recording methods Japan Electric Corporation (NEC) is about to launch the world’s first generation of digital video recording system for home use. Called the GigaStation recording system. On a 12 cm optical disc (equivalent to the size of a normal CD), a video signal equivalent to S-VHS quality or a video signal of 4 hours lower quality can be recorded for 2 hours. Each disk called MVD (Multimedia Disc) can record 5.2 gigabytes (G-bytes) of data. Disc into a closed laser head.
