Upstream US Aggregate Investment Has Concentrated Overseas Despite major political risks, the upstream oil companies in the United States are still investing in overseas markets. A study by the American Petroleum Institute (API) on 18 major oil companies in the United States showed that in 1992, the companies’ investments in overseas exploration accounted for 64% of the total investment, compared with 58% in 1991. API believes that the large oil companies investing in the United States overseas, mainly for the following four reasons: 1. US domestic gas prices lower; 2. The United States has a higher degree of development of land resources onshore; 3. Due to environmental requirements, restrictions on oil exploration and development More and more; 4. US domestic exploration encouragement policies are declining and overseas opportunities increase.
