马,在中国和世界的发展史上都曾占据有重要的地位,它是人类的亲密伙伴。有寓言说,马为了和鹿争夺一片草地,来求助于人,人帮助它战胜了鹿,于是它就成了人的奴隶,永远失去了自由。现在我们不去研究马在人类发展史上作出的贡献,也不去考证马是如何成为人的奴隶的,单说说马肉在哈萨克族同胞饮食生活中的重要作用。在新疆天山北麓连绵起伏的山脚下,有一片辽阔的草原,这里是我国重要的畜牧业基地之一,是“天马”的故乡——新疆伊犁哈萨克族自治州。在历史上,一直称伊犁马为“天马”。
