In 1878, Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. was established in Tsukiji, Tokyo, Japan. The founder, Mr. Kawasaki Masako, was the predecessor of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. Kawasaki Yoshihide is a registered trademark of the company’s product, which is designed with the Japanese surname “KAWASAKI”. In 1886, the Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. rented the Hyogo Hyogo Shipbuilding Station in Kobe East Kawasaki-cho, and changed it to the Kawasaki Shipbuilding Station to produce armored warships for the Japanese Navy. In 1935, Kawasaki began production of aircraft and became an aircraft manufacturer with Mitsubishi and Nakajima. In 1937, in order to expand production, Kawasaki Aircraft Co., Ltd. was established to separate aircraft production from Kawasaki Shipbuilding. In 1940, the Akashi Plant, where Kawasaki Heavy Industries is currently headquartered, was newly established and large-scale aircraft production began to supply the need for the expansion of Japanese militarism.
