驴在金代社会生活中有诸多作用,主要体现在人们日常出行的交通工具方面,通过考辨驴与马的史料,并将驴与马作对比分析,可以确认金代人们日常出行主要是骑驴,而很少骑马。在金末人们的命名习俗中,人们多以驴命名。驴作为交通工具,为人们出行乘骑提供了极大的便利,即便是在金宋重要的交通驿道上,驴为输送金宋使臣也作了贡献。驴是金代人们日常出行骑乘和牵引车辆的重要畜力。
