The Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway started construction from the end of 1975 and was opened to traffic on February 12 this year. The metro, which starts at Kowloon peninsula and reaches Hong Kong through the seabed, is 15.5 kilometers long and has a total of 15 stations, of which 13 stations are in Kowloon Peninsula and 2 stations are in Hong Kong. The construction of a subway linking Hong Kong to Kowloon Peninsula is of great significance to Hong Kong, which is separated from the sea. In addition, from Kowloon peninsula to Tsuen Wan, a newly opened industrial park, construction is underway and planned to be completed in 1982. After the subway is completed, it is estimated that the passenger traffic will increase to 1.8 million a day.
