美国棉花病理研究所的斯替潘诺维克等在棉花蕾和叶的色素中已研究鉴定出各种抗生物质。用薄层层析法对有色素及无色素腺的等基因系的提取物进行比较,从中找出只在有色素腺植株中发生的化合物,更明确地说就是在腺体中发生的化合物。色素腺除含有棉子醇外,至少还含有另外六种类萜烯醛。其中两种已被鉴定为半棉醇酮和6-甲氧基半棉醇酮。另有三种是棉子醇衍生的类萜烯醛醌。
The Institute of Cotton Pathology, Staphenovex, et al., Have identified various antimicrobial substances in cotton buds and leaf pigments. Thin layer chromatography is used to compare isogenic isolates with and without pigment gland to identify compounds that occur only in pigmented gland plants, and more specifically, compounds that occur in the gland. Pigmented gland contains in addition to cottony alcohol, at least contain another six kinds of terpene aldehydes. Two of these have been identified as Seminolone and 6-Methoxysensolol. The other three are terpenoid aldehyde quinones derived from cotton seed alcohols.
