向庆元,1937年11月出生,1961年10月毕业于北京工业学院(现北京理工大学)自动武器专业,研究员级高级工程师。1983～1995年任长庆机器厂副厂长兼总工程师,是我国第一批享受国务院特殊津贴的轻武器专家之一。如今,他虽已退休,但仍奋战在科研第一线。他主持或参与过64式7．62mm手枪、W85式12．7mm高射机抢、CQ 5．56mm自动步枪(仿美M16A1自动步枪)、CQ 5．56mm卡宾抢(仿美M4卡宾枪)、89式12．7mm重机枪、95式5．8mm班用枪族、CQ 7．62mm通用机枪(仿比利时FN MAG通用机枪)的研制和生产工作。在这些武器的研制和生产过程中,工厂引进了如抢管精锻、热模成型等先进的生产加工设备,为W85式12．7mm高射机枪、89式12．7mm重机枪等武器的大幅度减重奠定了基础。
Qingyuan, born in November 1937, graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology (now Beijing Institute of Technology) in October 1961 with a senior professional in automatic weapons and a researcher-level senior engineer. From 1983 to 1995, he served as deputy chief engineer and chief engineer of Changqing Machinery Factory and was one of the first light weapons experts in our country to enjoy the special allowance of the State Council. Today, although he has retired, he is still fighting at the forefront of research.
