Non-destructive testing is widely and effectively used to determine the thermal damage of colored magnetically permeable metals, for example by checking the residual strength of thermally exposed non-ferrous metals such as some heat treatable aluminum alloys. This is possible because there is a direct relationship between the electrical conductivity of some alloys and heat treatment. This connection is based on the metallurgical principles that have been proved by many sources.
