The first part of this article introduces a new type of antenna consisting of a suitably sized cylindrical metal shield over an entire length of a conventional helical antenna. This antenna can work in a wide frequency range (△ f / fm = ± 0.24). In this paper, compared with the conventional helical antenna, the typical electrical characteristics (directivity, phase center, axial ratio and standing wave) of the antenna are introduced and discussed.
