In 2014, fifty years after the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China, it is a very easy matter to include French architects’ works in China’s architectural designs. Whether it is the Shanghai Grand Theater designed by Arte-Chapman Design, the Pudong Airport designed by Paul Andrew or the Beijing National Grand Theater, the names of French architects are frequently appearing in the contemporary architecture and urban planning of China. However, in this special issue, we want to present to everyone the other side of the French architecture.
