一九三二年出版的《剧学月刊》第一卷第二期,载有刘晓桑、曹心泉、陈墨香、王瑶卿四人合写的《徐小香专记》一文,记述了京剧小生宗师徐小香的一些史料,颇珍贵。兹摘录于下: 该文谓:据徐小香之弟子曹心泉说,徐系苏州吴县人,名炘,字心一,艺名小香,自号蝶仙。幼年到北京学戏,为吟秀堂潘氏弟子。曹眉仙、龙德云是徐小香之前的两位名小生。龙是由湖北来京,投入曹门。曹眉仙是曹心泉的伯父。小香师事眉仙,终于青胜于蓝。曹眉仙是北京派小生,龙德云是湖北派小生,徐小香把曹、龙二人的艺术精华冶于一炉。徐小香在三庆班时,曾与主持该班的程长庚(老生“三鼎甲”之一)发生争执。长庚说:“一个唱
