some(总是读作/sam/)和(a)certain(只当定语)与名词连用均可表示因未知而未能说明的人、地、物;或表示虽能指明但因故(如没有必要)而未加具体说明的人、地、物。例如:(1)He′s living at some place in East Africa.他现住在东非某地。(2)Some person atthedooris askingto see you.门口有人要见你。(3)They went to a certain place.他们到一个地方去了。(4)A certain person called on me yesterday.昨天有人来找过我。
Some (usually pronounced /sam/) and (a) certain (used only as attributives) can be used in conjunction with nouns to denote people, places, and objects that cannot be accounted for because they are unknown; or that they can be specified but for some reason (if not Necessary) without specifying the person, place, or thing. For example: (1) He’s living at some place in East Africa. He lives in somewhere in East Africa. (2) Some person atthedooris askingto see you. Someone at the doorway wants to see you. (3) They went to a certain place. They went to a place. (4) A certain person called on Me yesterday. Someone came to me yesterday.
