On the importance of internal combustion engine cold start performance, influencing factors, test process and evaluation made a more comprehensive and exhaustive discussion. In the light of the requirements of the modern society for the internal combustion engine, a new index system that more fully reflects the cold start performance of the internal combustion engine is put forward.
