The study was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, 10 dogs were used to study diuretic or dexamethasone and their changes in cerebrospinal fluid pressure (CSF). The second phase studied the effects of these drugs in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Results Animal experiments confirmed that for experimental intracerebral hemorrhage, urea and mannitol less than hypertonic glucose and magnesium sulfate caused by the rise of cerebrospinal fluid pressure, dexamethasone can gradually reduce the pressure on the cerebrospinal fluid without a rebound phenomenon.
