Industry experts claim that Intel will extend the transition period between generations of products to enable smooth transition to next-generation memory for today’s fastest computer memory. The news means that most mainstream computer users have no chance of having the top computer memory anymore, so Intel has had to support both legacy and latest memory technologies in recent years, so PC makers will stick with the existing SDRAM memory product positions, until there is a clearer technical development prospects. Peter Glaskowsky, a semiconductor industry analyst at MicroDesign Resources, said: “For Intel, implementing a gradual escalation strategy makes more sense.” At present, most mainstream and high-end computers use SDRAM, which originally had a planned life of only One year, did not expect it to persist for so long.
