Community correction is the most common form of corrective control. Although applicable, the actual effect of community correction is poorly understood. While the risk / demand response model has played an important role in guiding the development of various projects that facilitate the return of perpetrators to society, they have never been applied to one-on-one direct corrections. In this study, we designed and provided probation officers with training programs based on a risk / demand response model to assist them in the direct correction of perpetrators of the probationary period. The probation officers participating in the study were randomly assigned to two groups: one was trained and the other was not trained. In order to assess how probation officers apply the techniques taught in the training, probation officers, after training, will record part of their conversations with the person being corrected. Experimental results show that probation officers under training show more skills based on a risk / demand response model and that the people they correct have a lower rate of recidivism. These findings show that training based on the basic principles of a risk / demand response model based on the support of empirical evidence can have a significant impact on the behavior of the probation officer himself and the person he or she corrects.
