91-year-old architect IM Pei made his closing for the dozen, set in the distant Middle East city of Doha. The Islamic Art Museum, located on a man-made island, resembles a glittering pearl in the desert oasis. The 38,200-square-foot museum, dedicated to the study, discovery and creation of Islamic art, is witness to the tremendous efforts Qatar has made to create itself into a place of art.
