When discussing the technologies needed to develop the next generation of aircraft, aerospace engineers often disregard the hardware systems required for electronic equipment, weapon systems, or many aircraft, and the focus of the discussion is on important areas for all advanced materials. In their opinion, the future of the aerospace manufacturing industry will be stagnant without these materials. Advanced tactical fighter jets, light helicopters, European fighter jets, high-speed civil aircraft, and high-performance engines all rely on the development of advanced materials that work at high temperatures and pressures. High-performance materials that absorb radar signals also play an important role in the development of stealth aircraft.
