An 18-bit A / D converter has been designed using the oversampling principle rather than the successive approximation technique used by most converters. The design uses a two-stage digital filter / decimator to reduce the sample rate. Use a special digital filter structure to reduce computational speed to a practical level. The issue of extending beyond 19 bits and 19 bits is also discussed.
