American atmospheric scientists predict that in the immediate aftermath of El Niño, which disrupts the world climate model, people will experience the opposite phenomenon of Lani. The El Niño phenomenon is caused by an increase in the temperature of the sea surface water in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean while the Lanini phenomenon is caused by the sub-atmospheric temperature of the surface seawater in the same sea area being lower than the average temperature. The surface seawater temperature in the sea area along the equator nearly 5,000 kilometers decreased by 8.3 degrees Celsius in only one month from early May to early June. Michael McFadden, a scientist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said temperatures have decreased at a much faster rate than ever before.
