建阳戏曲插图本的基本版式以嵌入式与单页整幅版式为主,在建本戏曲插图中,《琵琶记》插图数量远远领先,其次为《西厢记》《金印记》《荔枝记》等,这反映了建阳地域读者的阅读兴趣。建阳戏曲插图由早期《荔镜记》为代表的等清一色上图下文版式,发展到后来的单页整幅与嵌入式并存局面,与其对于金陵等地域插图的借鉴分不开。建阳地域插图对于戏曲文本有着自己的理解与再解读,建本《琵琶记》《西厢记》等插图对文本有着自己的接受。
