1985年9月15日点火投产的宝钢1号高炉,有效容积为4063m~3,居全国高炉之冠。据统计,容积在4000m~8以上的巨型高炉,世界上仅24座。宝钢1号高炉炉缸直径13.4m,高110m,年产生铁300万吨,设有4个铁口,36个风口。全套设备主要从日本新日铁引进,其工艺装备和控制系统具有七十年代末世界先进水平,突出地表现为大(大型化)、新(技术新)、精(精密)、高(高效率)等四大特点。在高炉工艺上,采用了精料、高压(最高0.25MPa),高风温(最高1310℃),综合鼓风(富氧4%,脱湿至6~9g/m~3、基本保持恒温鼓风,)喷煤(100kg/t),可调炉喉控制布料,热数模预测生铁含硅量及多铁口操作等技术。
