怪诞是滑稽和恐怖这两种基本元素无序的混合体,怪诞的主要审美体验是震惊和笑声,厌恶或者恐惧以及焦虑。理论界很长时间都难以接受这种“反常”的美,直到近百年来才持有积极的研究态度。目前国内儿童文学研究主要集中于具体的作家作品,几乎没有对怪诞成分的关注。然而,含有怪诞元素的儿童文学作品实际上受众颇广,受到儿童读者的喜爱。本文将梳理怪诞风格的起源和怪诞理论的发展,分析它在罗尔德·达尔的儿童文学作品中的表现形式之一,即怪诞叙事及其作用,并在此基础上揭示怪诞作为一种审美形态在儿童文学作品中的意义。
Grotesque is a disorderly mixture of comical and horrific two basic elements. The main aesthetic experiences of grotesque are shock and laughter, distaste or fear, and anxiety.
