中国文人是极聪明的,做着官,著着诗文,且游观山水,还能用业余时间写出一部堂皇的艺术史。从这个史实中,可得出两点结论:一,文人们画画的时间是极少的,充其量是官末、文末余事;二,“画”是“文”养出来的,所以叫“文人画”。今日美术界的情形如何呢?这个问题似不必回答,情形大家都了然于胸。数年前,刘国松曾以“越没文化,画画得越好”之高论而语惊四座,虽为谬言,却也道出了美术界的大体情形。基于这个缘故,我一向主张文人、知识分子画画。私下的想
