In this paper, a method and corresponding computer program for quantitatively evaluating absorption and enhancement effects using Rousseau-type theoretical equations are introduced. The application of several typical geological samples is illustrated. This procedure allows simulations and calculations of absorption and enhancement effects in x-fluorescence analysis and the resulting data can also be used as a rationale for selecting correction elements. It is well known that the absorption and enhancement effects in x-ray fluorescence analysis have been successfully mathematically corrected.
