美国华裔作家徐忠雄是著名的《哎咿!亚裔美国作家选集》的编著者之一,他创作了《天堂树》、《美国膝》等有一定影响的小说。2006年5月底,他参加了在北京外国语大学召开的21世纪亚美文学国际学术会议,并做了主题发言。在此次会议的间隙,他接受了笔者的采访,并就其小说的主题、人物、命名、叙述声音作了精彩论述。此外,他还清楚地阐述了《天堂树》、《中国佬》、《唐老鸭》等类似的题材的小说的相互联系以及各自不同的表现方法。
Xu Zhongxiong, a Chinese-American writer, is one of the co-authors of the famous “Ouch! Asian-American Authors Anthology”. He created some novels that influenced the “Paradise Tree” and “American Knee.” At the end of May 2006, he attended the 21st Century Asian American Literature International Academic Conference held at Beijing Foreign Studies University and gave a keynote speech. In the interval of this meeting, he accepted the author’s interview and gave a brilliant exposition on the theme, character, naming and narration of his novels. In addition, he also clearly articulated the interlinkages between the novels of similar themes such as “Paradise Tree,” “Chinatown,” “Donald Duck,” and their different ways of expression.
