In this study, we use process separation method and perceptual identification method to explore the role of different processing levels and word pairs in the formation of new alien relations. The results show that deep processing is one of the conditions for the formation of association between non-related words. In addition, the association of specific pairs of words did not show the level of the processing effect, the emergence of the separation of implicit and explicit memory, suggesting that there is an interaction between different types of words and processing level, when the degree of contact is tight, and Semantic processing is not necessarily required, and semantic processing is necessary when the degree of contact is not tight. The formation of a new alien relationship is not mediated solely by the Perceptual Representation System (PRS) and may be the result of a joint participation of the PRS with other processing systems.
