A gold nanorods sol has been prepared by electrolysis of gold with rodlike micelles as the shape-inducing templates.There is evidence that,instead of at the interfacial region of the cathodic surface during electrolysis,the formation of gold nanorods occured in the bulk electrolyzed solution during storage after the electrolysis.The total concentration of nanoparticles in the resulted sol was found to be dependent on the surface state of the Pt cathode,as well as the ultrasonication treatment during elelctrolysis.
