In the spring of 1941, in order to cut off the Chinese military’s maritime transportation and effectively control the strategic traffic line of the Taiwan Strait, the Japanese Aggressor Army planned the “Fuzhou Campaign” that captured the cities and counties of Fuzhou, Lianjiang and Changle cities, codenamed C4. On April 21, more than 2,000 Japanese troops, under the cover of the aircraft artillery, landed on Fuzhou, Minhou and Fuqing after landing on the Lianjiang, Minjiang River, Changle and other places. As the Kuomintang pursued the policy of “unilateral war of resistance” and the mistakes made in its military deployment, the KMT troops retreated under the attack of the Japanese army, causing the Japanese troops to quickly occupy a large area of land in Fuzhou and the neighboring four counties.
