The scorpion venom and its extracts have obvious analgesic effects. We compared the effect of nausea and morphine on the central analgesic effect. Scolonvenom (SV) and morphine were injected into the periaqueductal gray (PAG) of the rat’s midbrain, and the effect of central analgesia was observed and compared by using the thermal radiation flick method as an indicator. The results showed that the constant increase of the pain threshold occurred at a constant rate of 0.025% to 0.10% SV 0.5 μL (corresponding to 0.5 μg/kg to 2 μg/kg) in rat PAG, and peaked at 20 min (maximal pain threshold). Increased by more than 150%), compared with the control group was significantly different (P <0.01), and to increase the pain threshold of rats by 150%, the amount of morphine injected into the PAG is about 10μg/kg. It is suggested that SV has a strong central analgesic effect and is stronger than morphine by more than 4 times.
