Twenty-four male rats were injected intraperitoneally with 3 mg / kg sodium azide and exposed to 6 times a day for 0.5 h each for 4 days until intoxication. Neuropathological examination showed that sodium azide bilateral symmetry of brain damage, mainly tail-shell nucleus. Light microscopy shows neuronal cytoplasm deep staining, nuclear pyknosis, nerve fiber bundle loose swelling, severe were mesh-like. Electron microscope showed early neuronal cytoplasm loose, then shrinkage, nuclear chromatin accumulation, visible swelling around the cell processes. Nerve fibers, glial cells and blood vessels also appear lesions. At the same time, an animal model of cerebral sodium caudate-putamen injury induced by sodium azide was established for the study of mechanism of poisoning.
