The use of vibrational spectroscopy offers the possibility to identify single minerals and to explore more deeply the crystal structure of the minerals studied. In this regard, infrared spectroscopy can be compared with X-ray phase analysis. However, the advantage of this method is that by means of it both the structure-bound water and the water of crystallization can be determined. X-ray structure analysis can do nothing to solve this problem. In this paper, we attempt to show the possibility of using IR spectroscopy to study natural zeolites.
