The 1990s was an era of rapid development and fierce competition in the high-tech industry. This represented an attractive prospect for the long-term development of the non-ferrous metal industry. However, the 1990s was also a time of unpredictability in the world, the speed of the Gulf War, and the Soviet Union. The disintegration and the turmoil in the entire political situation in Eastern Europe have cast a shadow on the development of the world economy and trade. For this reason, people have doubts about the prospects for international marketing of non-ferrous metals in the 1990s. First, the characteristics of non-ferrous metals are closely related to national economy and people’s livelihood. Both are making great efforts to develop the non-ferrous metals industry and increase their strategic reserves. However, the distribution of non-ferrous metal resources is extremely uneven. This objective condition has made a few countries seek to exert their resource advantages to expand.
