1946年7月至1947年12月,我党领导的发生在山西晋南的自卫战和对蒋阎匪军的反攻战取得了辉煌的胜利,对当时的山西之敌形成了关门打狗之势,切断了中原、西北和华北三大区敌军的联系,为我人民解放军由战略防御转入战略反攻,由内线作战转入外线作战,为保卫党中央毛主席,保卫陕甘宁边区,为配合全国战场,为后来大部队西进南下作战都具有十分重要的作用和意义。
