This issue of the UNEVOC Forum provides some simple impressions of countries emerging from the conflict and attempts to find out the problems to be solved and the challenges that vocational training needs to be solved when ex-combatants reintegrate into civilian life. Protracted conflicts not only undermine the educational infrastructure but also seriously damage educational relations and economic livelihood. The short-term actions of the international community following conflicts and disasters have tended to focus on the re-establishment of the educational structure. This forum provides a new direction for efforts to rebuild livelihoods and lives through effective educational relations and reflect on how learner-centered approaches can improve outcomes.
