Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGTP) is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of glutamyl groups between amino acids. In 1979, Griffith and colleagues concluded that GGTP is located on mammalian cell membranes. Although it is widely distributed in the kidney, liver, small intestine and brain tissue, but when the human body has breast cancer, mastitis or fibroadenoma was significantly increased. In addition, this enzyme activity was also significantly increased when the cultured liver epithelial cells were malignantly transformed, but this enzyme activity did not change in fibroblasts and non-malignant hepatocytes. This article aims to elucidate whether changes in GGTP are associated with progression of melanoma and whether it can serve as a sensitive diagnostic indicator. A total of 50 malignant melanoma patients were measured serum γ-glutamyl transpeptidase levels. The results showed that after 18 surgical resections of the primary lesion, the mean GGTP was 10.97 IU / L, no significant difference from the healthy control group (10.2 ± 2.5; range 5.56-15.2). In 8 cases of local lesions and entities turn
