2005年,体育用品王国里面硝烟弥漫,战局突变。8月3日,欧洲最大的运动品制造商德国阿迪达斯-所罗门(Adidas-Salomon)公司宣布,它计划斥资31亿欧元(约合40亿美元)收购美国锐步(Reebok)公司,旨在进一步挑战世界运动品制造业霸主美国耐克公司(Nike Inc)。锐步是美国第二大体育用品制造商,仅次于耐克和阿迪达斯的世界第三大流行运动品牌,在美国本土乃至全球范围内都有极大影响力。阿迪达斯最终成功收购锐步,势必增强自己同耐克争夺至关重要的美国市场的实力。阿迪达斯董事长兼首席执行官海纳说:“这个决定对我们公司来说是一个具有战略意义的里程碑事件。在世界运动商品业的历史上,让两家最具有代表性和知名度的巨头联合起来的事情一辈子只会出现一次。”
