When the viscosity-temperature empirical correlations between Beggs and Robin-son degassed crude oils were applied to hundreds of degassed crude oil systems, we found that there was a large discrepancy between measured and calculated viscosity values. Using the data from approximately 400 oil analysis reports, we tested the proposed new correlations, which showed excellent correlation with standard deviations and mean errors of 12% and 55%, respectively, better than those available Beggs and Robinson, the inclusion of the freezing point temperature in the empirical equation allows us to further extend the range of applications for this correlation, and the new correlation also seems to apply to a wide range of oil weights and freezing points .
