海浪与海港的设计和建筑有着密切的关系,这不仅是因为海浪有巨大的能量,能推动数千吨重的石块,而且还能造成码头的严重破坏以及船只的损坏。因此,设计海港水工建筑物必须考虑的一个主要方面就是海浪的作用,例如倘若忽视设计海浪的确定,问题就不堪设想。单就设计波高而言,如果设计波高定得偏高,就会使港工建筑物的造价提高,反之,海浪就会使海港建筑物遭到损坏。因此,如何准确地确定设计波高是一个十分重要的问题。这就要求有个质量较高而系统的波浪观测资料,是目前海浪研究的一个重要课题。

In terms of designing wave height alone, if the design wave height is set high, the cost of the port construction will be raised. On the contrary, the waves will damage the harbor buildings. Therefore, how to accurately determine the design wave height is a very important issue. This requires a high quality and systematic observation of the wave data, which is an important issue in the current wave research.
