建筑是对于光线照射的体量的巧妙、正确和卓越的处理。我们的眼睛是在光照下看到形象而生的,因而,由光照而更充分显示出来的立方体、圆锥体、球体和圆柱或金字塔形是伟大的基本形象,而且是最美丽的形象。作为空间的存在物,建筑需要一定的造型特征被我们人的眼睛去认识、去解读。我们认识一个建筑,首先是其外观形式的映入眼帘。建筑的体量、建筑的色彩以及建筑的阴影关系都是我们认识建筑的最直接、最感官的途径。而这所有的一切,只有在光线下才可以产生。建筑外观的塑造是在光线下才有可能成为实现。
Architecture is the clever, correct and superior treatment of the amount of light exposure. Our eyes are created by seeing the image in the light. Therefore, cubes, cones, spheres and columns or pyramids, which are more fully illuminated by light, are a great basic image and are the most beautiful images.
