The fundamental structure of the important machine tools beeing used today originated in the era of the Industrial Revolution The machine tools for processing of metal were developed to meet the rapid increase of iron production,and the cutting speed was highly increased in use of high-speed steel.These facts may lead us to consider how the progress of machine tool has been closely related with the development of industrial material. In this paper,the discussions will be made on the historical relationships between progress of machine tool and development of industrial material.
