从50年代起,锯齿型厂房在纺织系统开始广泛应用,对生产发挥了很大的作用,但全国各地一直自行设计,缺乏交流总结,有些存在问题也未能及时解决,影响了进一步改进和发展。1986年起,在对两种基本类型的锯齿型厂房抗震性能进行系统研究并取得成果的基础上,在纺织工业部主管司、局的组织领导下,由纺织工业部设计院与北京、上海、天津、浙江、山东、福建、辽宁、黑龙江、湖北、河南、安徽、湖南、云南、四川、江苏等十五个省、市纺织设计院合作,共同编制了《锯齿厂房标准设计》图集。
