Dilated cardiomyopathy is a known cause of symptoms and signs due to cardiac insufficiency. Some factors, including alcohol, nutritional deficiencies, postpartum and viral infections have all been attributed to the etiology of cardiomyopathy. A potential immune dysfunction has also been suggested as a pathogenesis associated with the development of endocardial fibrosis and the presence of small numbers of lymphocytes or other mononuclear cells. This article assesses some of the humoral and cellular immune parameters in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and aims to investigate a potential immune disorder that may be involved in the pathogenesis of the disease. Methods: A total of 36 patients were observed at 18 months. Twenty-one patients (14 males and 7 females, aged 17-58 years) had congestive heart failure without coronary artery disease, familial cardiomyopathy, rheumatic fever
