引言 1999年6月30日。这是令湖南郴州人民震惊的日子。 这一天,发生了自郴州地改市以来最大的一场火灾。在郴州万达市场的上空,滚滚的黑烟使阳光灿烂的城区瞬间如黑夜笼罩,燃烧物散发的刺鼻异味弥漫到周边的大街小巷,一阵接一阵的爆炸声传出方圆数公里。然而令人尴尬的是,作为灭火有力武器的消火栓却如插花般插入土中,毫无作用。整个万达市场被周围的广告牌封得个严严实实,如一个巨大的烤箱…… 大火整整烧了15个小时,消防官兵们一天一夜未合眼,慰问消防官兵的群众来了一茬又一茬…… 熊熊燃烧的烈火发泄着它蓄集已久的愤懑,也熔炼了一片片真情。
