由北京大学主持,中国科学院上海原子核研究所、中国社会科学院考古研究所和中国科学院地质研究所参加的国家自然科学基金重大项目——“应用于地球科学的加速器质谱计的研制与建立”已全面完成预定任务。1993年4月27日国家自然科学基金委员会在北京大学召开了该加速器质谱计的鉴定会,并进行了项目验收。与会专家认为,北京大学加速器质谱计的设计先进合理,建造速度快,总体性能指标已达到国际先进水平。
