经过五年(1979—1983年)的试验及生产示范材料分析确认:本区春小麦一般年份三叶期前后灌头水;在土壤含水量不低于10％的条件下,二水在七叶至挑旗期灌溉;开花或灌浆初期灌三水;全生育期灌溉定额控制在200—250方/亩,在其它条配合下,即可获取高产。试验证明每方进地水(包括贮水灌溉)生产2—3斤小麦是可能的。本研究提供的头水早,二水控,三水限量的灌溉技术有可能适应于整个河西灌区(包括沿山补灌亚区)。
