US Westinghouse, Defense and Space Research Center and Mideast Aluminum Compang plan to make a very thin walled aluminum alloy extruded tube for precision waveguides that make sudden onboard surveillance radars. The tolerances are about four times more stringent than those of standard extruded tubes and most extrusion plants are unwilling to do the job. The purpose of this program is to determine which important process parameters have an impact on such precision waveguide components, As well as how to control these factors.The reason why the precision extrusion tube is interested in is that it is caused by designing and manufacturing the slotted plane of the airborne radar.It is considered that the more refined extrusion tube can improve the antenna performance.Therefore, The program began with the research and refinement of existing standard extrusion processes initiated by the White Patterson Air Force Materials Experiment Center in Dalton, Ohio, USA.
