军屯自问世以来 ,就与西部开发结下了不解之缘。它为边疆的经济繁荣和国家经济建设做出了应有的贡献。首先 ,开垦荒地 ,促进农业发展 ,增强了国家西部地区经济实力和国防力量 ,构成了对敌的威慑和不战而屈人之兵的作用。其次 ,内地先进的思想文化、科学技术、管理方法得以在西部传播和推广 ,从而促进了边疆少数民族地区科学技术的发展和社会文明的进步。
