崇文书局,即湖北官书局(处),为晚清全国五大官书局之一。清同治六年(1867),署理湖广总督李瀚章、湖北巡抚曾国荃于武昌设立。前后刊刻发行四部典籍及“新学”著作五百余种,所出图书因种类多、数量大、编校精而广为流布,崇文书局亦因此声名远播。清光绪三十年(1904),清政府组团参加美国圣路易斯万国博览会,作为中国“图书及出版物”之代表的“湖北崇文书局/湖北官书处”版刻共179种获特等奖,崇文书局版刻反映了中国传统文化特色与学术成就,展示了中国雕版印刷与书籍装帧的独特技艺,促进了西方对中国文化的了解。
Chongwen bookstore, that is, Hubei official bookstore (Branch), one of the country’s top five official bookstores in the late Qing Dynasty. Thirty years of Emperor Guangxu (1904), the Qing government organized a delegation to participate in the United States St. Louis World Exposition, as China “books and publications ” on behalf of the "Hubei Chongwen Bookstore / Award, Chongwen Bookstore reflects the traditional Chinese culture and academic achievements, demonstrates the unique skills of Chinese engraving printing and book binding, and promotes western understanding of Chinese culture.
